Visit Us at Mulligans Flat or Jerrabomberra Wetlands
You can come and visit at Mulligans Flat or Jerrabomberra Wetlands. Mulligans is the site of species reintroductions including bettongs, curlews and coming-soon quolls. Jerrabomberra is a wetlands system on Canberra’s doorstep with amazing birds, platypus and cultural heritage. Both sites can be accessed during the day for self-guided walking tours. Each site also provides opportunities for education – linked to the curriculum through our learning centre.
At Mulligans Flat we offer two-hour guided twilight walking tours to spot-light for, and try to catch a glimpse of bettongs, curlews and other nocturnal animals in their natural habitat. 96% of participants are happy to recommend this experience to their friends and family.

We also offer the Premium Australian Woodlands experience for visiting dignitaries and other small groups who are seeking a tailored personalised experience. These tours are a driving/walking tour where you experience the best of the woodlands landscape before entering the sanctuary after sunset and searching for bettongs and other nocturnal wildlife. All paid experiences are directly supporting the conservation efforts at each of the reserves.

We run a variety of special events through the reserves across the year, based on the seasons and what is happening in the environment. Examples include ‘Science in the Sanctuary’ forum, guided ‘Kids Walks’ during school holidays, ‘Wildflowers Walks’ in Spring and ‘Friends of’ working parties – these are a mixture of paid and non-paying and volunteering experiences.

Come behind the scenes and tour broadly across the woodland landscape, taking in breathtaking views at sunset before descending into the sanctuary to search for nocturnal wildlife in endangered woodlands. This is a 2-2.5 hour driving and walking experience, starting one hour before sunset.
