Birthday bettong bonanza
We had a fully booked tour tonight for a group celebrating a birthday. The bettongs put on a good show with at least 11 bettongs seen, many of these seen on a couple of occasions. One bettong was caught up in his truffle digging and hardly noticed out presence. We got a quick look at a sugar glider before it darted into a hollow. A white striped free tail bat put on quite a show weaving in and out of the trees in search of insects. There was a number of rather lazy brushtail possums who waddled along the woodland floor. There were also some beautiful golden orb and garden orb spiders up high in their webs hoping to catch a few insects in their webs for dinner. The group really had there senses honed to spotting animals and did a fantastic job. The best find was a spotted marsh frog hiding in a hole in the ground quite some distance from a large body of water. Overall it was a great night out and alway such a pleasure to see bettongs back on the mainland and doing so well.
